about daniela (she/her)

Daniela Battaglioli.jpg

history and philosophy

Daniela is an Italian-American photographer, chalk artist and craftsperson based in Denver, Colorado. Her photography draws upon her upbringing as a first generation American, her coming of age as a queer woman, and her current journey of self exploration.

She approaches each photo with curiosity to capture the expressive essence of the scene, creating compositions that are both intuitive and intentional. Daniela's work explores themes of duality and contrast, identity and human spirit, and the importance of challenging dogmatic thinking.

Chalk art has also been a hallmark of Daniela’s art career. Pulling inspiration from the Italian Madonnari, Daniela with her team of incredible collaborators (Angii Checco and Misha Farris) have competed in the Denver Chalk Art Festival for thirteen consecutive years as well as various other chalk art events around the country. They have been awarded multiple 'Best In Show' awards, and their chalk creations have been featured in Huff Post, the Denver Post, and 303 Magazine.

Daniela aims to capture the duality in life and in the human spirit in her art- the simplicity and grandeur of nature, the left brain and the right brain, the silence and the poetry.
